The world we used to know
The Third Single by David Olney & Anana Kaye Out Now!
The latest single, "The World We Used to Know," is out today, the 10th of March.
"It was natural for David to enter another world and immerse himself in it," Kaye tells Wide Open Country. "He really related to our stories about growing up during a revolution or civil war... and its consequences. Felt like he lived them with us and experienced the physical and psychological ruin that come with it, the division between people, the division within people's hearts and souls. That was not imagination for us, and it was something we lived through and continue to do so."
Kaye explains that the song is written from the point of view of a soldier writing a letter to a loved one.
"The song is in the form of the letter that is presumably written by a soldier to his beloved left behind. The world we knew is gone and there's no turning back. But the longing is natural and real and painful," Kaye says. "Who are the bad guys, who are the good guys? Yesterday's heroes are today's villains and vice versa. Yet life goes on and it's the only life we have."

moat release ‘poison stream’
Coming off their recent successful Indiegogo album campaign, MOAT released their new fan-funded album POISON STREAM on the 12th February via Schoolkids Records. Marty Willson-Piper's fan base continues to grow year on with his impressive catalogue of continued projects and his fan-favoured daily blog, TO WHERE I AM NOW
MOAT is the collaboration of Marty Willson-Piper and Niko Röhlcke and sees these two prolific artists working together again for the follow-up to their self-titled first album.
Musically the album covers an eclectic range but it maintains an atmosphere that mixes the weirdness of an eccentric English village with the long dark nights of moody Scandinavia. Marty as lyricist and singer co-writes the songs with Niko, some of the original ideas coming from Niko’s evocative soundtracks. If you enjoy thoughtful Anglo-Scandinavian-bent folk-pop with lyrical twists and turns, the occasional experiment and a timeless modern soundtrack to the past, then this may be the album for you.

American songwriter premieres David olney & anana kaye single
David Olneys last studio recording set for release this March on Schoolkids Records.
From American Songwriter:
“When David Olney died onstage exactly one year ago today, it sent a seismic ripple across the songwriting community, not just because of the nature of his death, but because of his lasting impact and legacy. He wasn’t just a revered songwriter. He was a revered storyteller whose tales resonated so strongly that other songwriters like Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris and Laurie Lewis often bypassed their own compositions to cover his.
“One of the best songwriters working in the world today” he was called by Steve Earle. The Waterboys’ Mike Scott quipped, “Only wisdom and deep experience can make music like this.”
In fitting tribute exactly one year to that day, American Songwriter is premiering his final song, “My Favorite Goodbye,” whose production was completed on that very same day of his death.” Check out the rest of the article here.
